Halfaxa was released on September 30, 2010, through different Labels. "Lo-fi, Ethereal Hardcore" was the three words Grimes used to describe this album. Most listeners would classify it as a headphones-only album but that simply isn't the case. At the time when Grimes was making Halfaxa, she was on a vacation in Halifax, Canada. The artist mainly made this album purely just for fun. She did say that the album got its name from the city of Halifax but decided to make it more feminine and created Halfaxa. "Weregild" gets its name from an archaic legal value placed on all beings and property, based on social rank. "sagrad прекрасный" means beautiful in Russian. "Dragvandil" is the name of a sword in Final Fantasy XI.
